Why Sanatana Dharma’s Cosmic Framework Differs Fundamentally from Linear Faiths
Sanatana Dharma Vs. Abrahamic Religions (Christianity and Islam)
Many try to equate all spiritual paths, but structurally, Islam and Christianity operate on entirely different frameworks from Sanatana Dharma. Here is why they represent fundamentally incompatible worldviews:
1. Linear Time vs. Cyclical Evolutio
n
Abrahamic Faiths: Operate on a linear timeline—one creation event (e.g., the 6-day creation theory), one single lifetime, and one final judgment leading to an eternal heaven or hell. There is no concept of karma, reincarnation, or cosmic cycles.
Sanatana Dharma: Is rooted in a vast, eternal science of evolution. Souls do not have just "one chance." Every life form evolves from the state of an atom to the Absolute Truth (Parabrahm) across multiple cycles of birth, death, and cosmic ages (Yugas).
2. The Concept of Divine Messengers
The Linear View: Believes in a final prophet or exclusive savior, wrapping up divine communication for the rest of human history.
The Sanatana View: Time is too vast for a single messenger. Evolution is continuously guided by self-realized sages (Mahatmas). Every Yuga sees five epochal gurus (Kalanthara and Sandhi gurus). Across a single Manvantara (the realm of a Manu), there are 71 Chaturyugas (age quartets). In a cosmic system this vast, the idea of a single "final" messenger reveals a completely different scale of time.
3. The Structure of the Cosmos
The Linear View: Places God in a localized heaven (often described as a place of physical or sensual enjoyment) as the ultimate destination.
The Sanatana View: Heaven (Swarga) is not the end—it is merely a temporary, intermediary dimension to experience the fruits of good karma. True liberation (Moksha) means transcending all material heavens to realize $Parabrahm$—the Supreme Light and Absolute Reality.

If you've heard of Rajiv Malhotra's work, he talks of how the Abrahamic religions are trying to digest Sanatana Dharma. I think that type of project will fail since Sanatana Dharma does not work like their religions, so long as Hindus remember the Dharmic framework, ideas, and values. Hindus themselves must not internalize the Abrahamic mentality while simultaneously being aware of the dangers of Abrahamic religions and especially people who espouse the most extremist fundamentalist versions of these religions.
On the other hand, though, I see more and more people, even if they call themselves 'Christian' or 'Atheist', becoming Hindu in spirit. I think Hindus should encourage such behavior so, Sanatana Dharma can 'digest' Abrahamic religions, whatever good comes from those religions while avoiding the horrible ideas these religions perpetuate/do.
